Screening of Wheat Genotypes for Nitrogen Deficiency Tolerance Using Stress Screening Indices

An increased awareness of environmental protection and sustainable production raise the necessity incorporating selection low nitrogen-tolerant winter wheat cultivars for high yield quality in breeding process. This can be assisted by using stress screening indices. Our study aimed to evaluate compare a number indices determine select most nitrogen deficiency-tolerant further breeding. The experiment included forty-eight from eight different countries that were grown two consecutive years at three locations under low-nitrogen (LN) high-nitrogen (HN) conditions. results emphasized importance applying appropriate evaluating selecting cultivars. promising mean productivity index (MP), geometric (GMP), harmonic (HM), tolerance (STI) (YI). They identified Sofru, BC Opsesija MV-Nemere as tolerant LN conditions grain yield. same classified U-1, OS-Olimpija, Forcali, Viktoria Tena protein content.
